Yokohama partners with three pro and two college football teams

Ready for some football? Yokohama Tire Corp. sure is.

Yokohama is teaming with three National Football League teams and two high-visibility college teams to promote its Advan, S.drive, Parada, Geolandar and AVID tire lines.

Sponsorship of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, as well as the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans, will include promotions that will drive traffic to dealers, according to Dan King, Yokohama's vice president of sales. For example, dealers in specific markets will be offering free, authentic replica team jerseys to every customer who buys four tires.

Yokohama also will have signage, product displays and events at the stadiums, plus radio spots, presence on the teams' Web sites and newsletters, and other corporate identifications.

"We think football's immense popularity on the pro and college levels makes it the perfect place to showcase our lineup of tires," says King. "All the promotions we have planned should score big with our dealers and their customers."

The football promotions follow successful partnerships with two minor league baseball teams this season: the Triple-A Columbus Clippers and the Double-A Reading Phillies.
