May 23, 2007

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plans to invest a minimum of $125 million in its Gadsden, Ala., passenger and light truck tire plant over the next three years for modernization purposes.

The factory, which opened in 1928, has the capacity to produce 15,000 passenger and 10,000 light truck tires per day, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.

It's one of 12 manufacturing plants covered under Goodyear's present labor contract with the United Steelworkers, which was ratified late last year.
