April 19, 2007

Kumho has been named the official tire of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Pro Racing SIRIUS Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup through the 2008 season.

The MX-5 Cup features similarly prepared Mazda MX-5 cars with limited modifications. The series is the entry level of production car-based competition in SCCA Pro Racing. Beginning with the first race of the 2007 season -- this weekend’s Grand Prix of Houston -- each MX-5 Cup car will be outfitted with Kumho Victoracer V700 DOT-approved racing tires.

“Grassroots motorsports are important to us because they provide an opportunity to prove our products on the track,” said Kumho Tire U.S.A. Motorsports Manager Rudy Consolacion.

The 2007 SCCA Pro Racing SIRIUS Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup features eight rounds at some of North America’s top road racing venues, including the Grand Prix of Houston, Road Atlanta, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Portland International Raceway, the Grand Prix of Cleveland, Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres and Miller Motorsports Park.

MX-5 Cup races are run in conjunction with American Le Mans Series and Champ Car World Series races and are televised on Speed TV.
