Michelin introduces its own endurance racing contest

March 26, 2007

Groupe Michelin is launching the Michelin Energy Endurance Challenge, a racing competition based on the LeMans 24 Hours that will reward teams for their fuel efficiency.

Factors will include average speed over total covered distance, actual fuel consumption for each vehicle and others, say Michelin officials.

"Michelin's credentials when it comes to lasting performance go back a long way and our commitment to endurance racing involves pushing the envelope... even further in the realms of energy performance and durability," says Frederic Henry-Biabaud, Michelin's competition director.
