OTR Tire Conference, Day Two: Anti-retread bill is still on the table

Feb. 23, 2007

A recently introduced bill that would eliminate the use of truck tire retreads on Florida's public roads and highways "has not been withdrawn," says Harvey Brodsky, managing director of the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB).

Both TRIB and the Tire Industry Association are battling the bill, S912, which was unveiled by Florida State Senator Victor Crist. If passed, the act would take effect this coming July.

"We believe this bill would greatly impede the retread and trucking industry in Florida and would create havoc with out-of-state trucks coming into Florida," says Brodsky.
