Yokohama Tire Corp. will reduce its presence in the American LeMans Series (ALMS)for the remainder of the 2008 season to concentrate on tire development and testing.
During this time the Mazda LMP2 race team, which was previously sponsored by Yokohama, will be using other tires.
"We have a multi-year commitment with the American LeMans Series, and so far we only have short-term results," says Mark Chung, director of strategic marketing. "We hope to be back racing with Mazda soon, but we're also exploring all options with other teams."
Chung says Yokohama is going to take some extra time to focus on development and constructing new tires "that will live up to our heritage of championship racing."
