Continental sets lofty goal for 2008

July 7, 2008

Officials from Continental AG say the company is targeting sales of more than 26.4 billion euros for 2008.

Continental achieved first quarter sales of 6.6 billion euros, a 67% increase over first quarter 2007 sales.

"Despite the... unsatisfactory trends in the tire markets, we have clearly exceeded our expectations for the corporation as a whole," Continental Chairman Manfred Wennemer said this past May when the company announced its first quarter results.

"Backed by solid results for the first three months, we are confident that we will achieve our targets for the year."
