Local unions associated with the United Steelworkers have ratified a labor agreement with BFGoodrich Tire Manufacturing Co.
Production workers at the company’s Fort Wayne, Ind., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., consumer tire facilities ratified a renewed three-year labor agreement.
"The company is pleased this agreement was reached in a very cost competitive and challenging environment," says the company, a subsidiary of Michelin North America Inc.
The contract covers approximately 2,450 employees in Fort Wayne and Tuscaloosa, the two oldest factories among Michelin's 13 manufacturing facilities in North America. The other 11 are non-union plants run directly by Michelin.
According to the 2013 Modern Tire Dealer Facts Issue, the two BFGoodrich plants have a combined capacity of 60,500 passenger and light truck tires per day.
