Falken Tire Corp. is participating in a social-media driven road trip to demonstrate the fuel efficiency potential of its ZIEX ZE-914 Ecorun tire.The road trip begins Aug. 19 with destinations to be chosen by Falken Tire’s Facebook fans.
The company says the trip will also help position the Falken brand as an everyday performance tire of choice. Falken’s hashtag for the event is #ecoruntrip.
The editors of Import Tuner partnered with Falken Tire to modify a 1993 Honda Civic VX (VTEC-E) for the road trip. Falken’s hashtag for the event is #ecoruntrip.
The company says the 20-year-old Civic received modifications within the engine as well as suspension, aero and tuning, in addition to weight removal, with the outcome being a lower coefficient of drag, with low rolling resistance tires, in hopes of a vehicle that would earn significant MPG improvements. Fuel efficiency is expected to reach an average of 60 MPG, an increase of over 20%.
“The premise, and ultimate success, of the Ecorun Trip is integrating the power of social media and our ZIEX ZE-914 tire into both a fun event and a great study in fuel efficiency,” says Andrew Hoit, Falken’s vice president of marketing.
“I look forward to seeing the input from our fans on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to help guide the Civic around the South and Northwest. We also anticipate our ZE-914 Ecorun tire will gain a fair amount of notice in the process."
The ZIEX ZE914 ECORUN is a hybrid vehicle tire with the cost saving fuel efficiency of a low-rolling resistance compound, engineered with performance in mind, according to Falken. The tire features an asymmetric tread pattern with four straight wide circumferential grooves for hydroplane resistance along with a dual high rigidity rib construction, allowing good wet and dry braking stability.
Slots and sipes can be found throughout the tire, optimized for even tread wear with a comfortable ride while providing additional traction. With a size list ranging from 15-inch to 18-inch and speed ratings of H, V and W, the ZE914 EcoRun is a great tire for enthusiasts looking to save at the pump, according to the company.
