Raybestos help Kenseth earn first victory at Darlington

May 13, 2013

The JGR team capped off an auspicious week with an amazing win at Saturday’s Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Kyle Busch took sixth, Denny Hamlin took second and Matt Kenseth drove his No. 20 Dollar General Toyota to victory lane… all three cars relying on the stopping power of Raybestos brakes.

Kenseth, earned his first victory at Darlington, his third of the season and the 27th of his career. Substitute crew chief Wally Brown said, “The strength of Matt’s car was unbeatable in the closing laps. This was a team effort… a talented driver, dedicated team a powerful car and an equally powerful brake package all added up to a well-earned win.”

Kenseth took the lead from JGR teammate Kyle Busch on Lap 355 of 367 and pulled away to win by 3.155 seconds over Hamlin, as Busch moved into sixth. This was Hamlin’s first full race back from a compression fracture, sustained during a last-lap crash at Fontana, Calif., in late March. Given the strain of this demanding track, his effort was an inspiration to his entire team.

The Raybestos Racing brake package, used by NASCAR teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, combines ample stopping power with a considerable weight savings advantage on tracks like the Darlington 1.37-mile Super Speedway.

Raybestos racing brake pads are the ultimate high-friction, high-torque racing pads. The famous Raybestos “ST” series racing compounds provide superior stopping power for championship-caliber race teams.
