Web poll: Who is competitor No. 1?

Order Reprints

Everyone seems to sell tires these days. But of all your competitors, who is the one you follow most closely?

That is what we wanted to find out with the help of our latest Web poll. Are Walmart Tire and Lube Express outlets your stiffest competition? Are Sears Auto Centers?

What about the car dealerships in your area, or warehouse clubs, or company-owned stores? Do you base your pricing and service on what your fellow independent tire dealers do?

Let us know by answering the poll question, which is located on the right-hand side of the Modern Tire Dealer home page under "Web Poll: Sponsored by Bridgestone" (after you scroll down a little).

The answers to our last poll question were mixed. We asked, "Do you allow your employees to bring guns into the workplace?" The most common answer was "no."

Yes, we do: 30%.

No, we don't: 57%.

It hasn't come up: 13%.

Do you have a gun control policy at your tire dealership? If you don't, then check out the following links to see why you should -- and what you need to think about when crafting such a policy:

"Gun control: a hot and heated topic."

"Policy control: Do you allow employees to bring guns to work?"
