Continental sponsors 2013 ‘Hot Rod’ Power Tour

Jan. 25, 2013

Continental Tire the Americas LLC has signed a two-year agreement to become a co-sponsor with Chevrolet for the 19th annual Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour June 1-7, 2013. The official name of the tour is “Chevrolet Performance Presents the Hot Rod Power Tour Driven by Continental Tire.”

During the tour, more than 75,000 car lovers will come see the 4,700+ performance machines rolling into seven cities in seven days. At each stop, a performance marketplace, featuring top aftermarket manufacturers, accompanies the thousands of hot rods, muscle cars, street machines, custom creations, and trucks that go on display for the day.

The tour will kick off Arlington, Texas, on June 1. From there, stops will include: Texarkana, Ark., Little Rock, Ark., Memphis, Tenn., Birmingham, Ala. and Chattanooga, Tenn. A finale stop takes place on June 7 in Charlotte, N.C.

“The Hot Rod Power Tour is on the bucket list of all performance car enthusiasts,” says Gregg Vandermark, Continental Tire event manager. “Continental is very happy that our brand is now associated with the fun and adventure that this legendary road trip represents.”

Continental says the Grand Finale stop in Charlotte will mark an intersection of sorts for Continental Tire’s performance event sponsorships. The stop is near the headquarters of Richard Petty Motorsports. Continental Tire is featured on the Petty’s Garage Performance Tour, with stops at various Grand-Am races, and major car shows, an association that began in 2012.
