Jan. 4, 2013

Hai Eok "Harry" Choi has been named president of Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. He replaces J.B. Kim, who is returning to Korea to  take over the parent company's original equipment and replacement sales divisions.

Choi brings more than 20 years of experience with Kumho Tire Co. to his new position. He has an extensive global background in both sales and marketing in Korea, Europe and Latin America.

The transition will be completed by the end of January.

Kim has led Kumho Tire U.S.A. through significant market challenges during his four-year tenure and has achieved many noteworthy accomplishments. They include:

* a brand awareness increase of 8% per year between 2008 and 2012;

* the launch of the Ecsta 4X all-season UHP tire, one of the most successful Kumho tires launched in the U.S.;

* sales of more than 10 million units per year.

“During my stay in North America, I have had the opportunity to meet many unique challenges," he says. "Through it all, we have remained a unit of strength, perseverance and positivity. It is these qualities that have made Kumho Tire U.S.A. more tenacious than ever."
