Standards Testing Laboratories Inc. (STL) now offers bead unseat testing for passenger and light truck tires up to 30 inches in diameter.
"Our bead unseat machine is designed to apply a force to the tire's shoulder to measure the energy required to unseat the tire bead from the rim," says Cheryl Schnuth, vice president, marketing, Standards Testing Laboratories.
"Proper fitment of the bead to the rim is required to provide satisfactory service in the field and to meet statutory requirements. Larger rim diameter tires with lower aspect ratios are more difficult to test."
