Dunlop helps BMW Rahal Letterman Racing gain victory

Nov. 4, 2009

Dunlop tires on the BMW M3 racing car of
the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team were considered instrumental in the
team's first victory of the 2009 Asian Le Mans Series season, at the
Okayama International Circuit in Japan.
In the Oct. 31 race, the M3 of BMW Rahal Letterman Racing took the
checkered flag in the GT2 class after 113 laps, with drivers Dirk Muller
and Tommy Milner sharing duties.

In post-race remarks, Milner praised the performance of the car's Dunlop
race tires, saying, "We knew that skipping the tire change on the last
stop would give us an advantage, but it would have been wasted if our
Dunlop tires had not been able to take the pressures we were putting on
them.  I was being chased hard over the last 10 laps and had to drive as hard as I could, and the Dunlop tires were more than up to the challenge."

Following a victory for the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team earlier this
year at Road America during the 2009 American Le Mans Series (ALMS), this
is the second win for the new sports car, in the inaugural event of the
Asian series.

Team owner and racing legend Bobby Rahal summarized the victory: "The
rules package in the Asian series made it advantageous for us to
double-stint the Dunlop tires on our last stop, but it was the tires
themselves that had to do the heavy lifting.  If the Dunlops had not been
up to the task, all the strategy in the world would not have helped us. We asked a lot from our Dunlop tires in that race and they gave us everything we needed to win the race."
