Sept. 22, 2009

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has broken ground on a $7 million, 32,000-square-foot expansion of its Tupelo, Miss., plant. Construction is scheduled to begin this month.

"This expansion will enable Cooper to produce more technologically advanced products and will enable the company to improve the competitiveness of its operations," says Plant Manager Pat Jodon.

The Tupelo factory currently spans 1.6 million square feet. The addition will include installation of a new mixer.

"The project is expected to be completed by April 2010," say Cooper officials.
