Michelin to 'specialize' plants in France

June 17, 2009

Groupe Michelin plans to develop its Moncteau, France, plant into a "high performance facility" for earthmover tires and make its Tours, France, factory "a benchmark for high-tech truck tires in Europe," according to Michelin officials.

In addition, the company plans to transfer production of "premium tires" from its plant in Seclin, France, to a facility near Clermont-Ferrand, home of Michelin's global headquarters.

"In a highly competitive business environment exacerbated by the current crisis, these decisions further demonstrate the group's commitment to maintaining a solid manufacturing base in France."
