TRIB signs agreement with Italian retread group

May 29, 2009

The Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Italian Tire Retreading Association that will enable the two groups to exchange relevant market and technical information.

Information would be exchanged "for the purpose of exploring possibilities for increased trade, technological and knowledge sharing between members," according to the memorandum, which was signed last week during the Autopromotec show in Bologna, Italy.

"We're going to begin sharing ideas," TRIB Managing Director Harvey Brodsky recently told www.moderntiredealer.com. "Most of the stuff will be coming from us to them. They want to be able to use our materials."

The associations also have mutually decided to:

* assist visits of delegations between members of both groups and discuss possible assistance for furthering business and technical contacts.

* assist one another with participation in exhibitions, conferences and other similar events taking place in the respective countries aimed at expansion of business ties between members.

* swap information relevant to the retread industry that is available through articles, research, the Internet, publications and other sources.

* meet for the purpose of strengthening ties between members.

The associations also reserve the right to suggest any additions, alterations and modifications to the agreement aimed at "further improvement of trade, technical, knowledge and economic tires between them."

TRIB has discussed the prospect of forming cooperative agreements with other countries' retread associations, says Brodsky. "I think we're going to see more agreements with associations around the world."
