Del-Nat recalls 968 Load Range E light truck tires

April 26, 2008

Del-Nat Corp. is recalling 968 Load Range E tires, size LT265/75R16, manufactured by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. between Dec. 2 and Dec. 30, 2007.

These tires fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles."

After testing, a bulge can occur in the lower sidewall on the white sidewall side, which indicates the existence of a separation between two lower sidewall components. This condition could result in a vehicle crash.

Although it is not known at which Cooper manufacturing plant the tires were produced, the recalled Del-Nat tires suffer from the same defect that forced Cooper, TBC Corp., American Car Care Centers, SURE Tire Inc., Hercules Tire & Rubber Co., Pro Competition Tire Co. and Nokian Tyres plc. to recall LT265/75R16 tires made by Cooper in Albany, Ga., around the same time frame.

Overall, Cooper is voluntarily recalling 48,037 light truck tires.

Del-Nat is working with Cooper to notify the owners of the 968 tires. Owners can call the following numbers:

* Cooper customer relations at (800) 854-6288, or

* Del-Nat at (901) 775-8124.

The affected tires will be replaced free of charge.
