Bauer Built reorganizes its tire division

Jan. 29, 2009

Bauer Built Inc., based in Durand, Wis., is reorganizing its Tire Division management team. President Jerry Bauer says the moves will be effective during "the first part of 2009."

According to Bauer, the purpose behind the reorganization is to continue Bauer Built’s long range strategies:

* to develop a controlled succession plan, and

* to continue to create depth in its management team.

As part of the reorganization, Tad Bauer, formerly executive vice president of marketing and logistics, will be promoted to chief operating officer and executive vice president of the Tire Division.

His duties and responsibilities will include the overall management of Bauer Built’s Tire Division. He also will participate on the company’s board of directors and executive team.

In his 19-year career with Bauer Built, Tad has worked in almost all aspects of the commercial and retail dealership, including the service, retread manufacturing and sales ends of the business. He has held the positions of assistant store manager, store manager, regional sales director and vice president.

Jim Fenn, formerly executive vice president of sales and manufacturing, will move to executive vice president of marketing and logistics, and will manage the company’s marketing, purchasing, warehousing, transportation, distribution and manufacturing activities.

Fenn is a 40-year veteran of the tire industry. In his nearly 30 years with Bauer Built, he served as store manager, market manager, director of tire centers and vice president of tire centers prior to his promotion to executive vice president.

Todd Weber is being promoted to executive vice president of tire sales operations after serving six years as vice president of sales for Bauer Built’s North Region.

Weber's primary responsibility will be to supervise the sales operations for the company’s 28 tire centers in three regions, plus nine wholesale distribution centers. He started with Bauer Built in 1986.

Joe Weber, manager of the tire center and retread plant in St. Paul, Minn., will be promoted to vice president of sales for Bauer Built’s North Region, replacing Todd Weber. Weber also has held multiple positions since he joined the company in 1988.

Bauer Built has been in business for nearly 65 years. It services the midwestern United States as a wholesale, commercial and retail tire and battery distributor. It also offers automotive services and other related products.

In addition to its tire centers and wholesale distribution centers, Bauer Built runs seven Michelin Retread Technology retread plants. It also is in the bulk petroleum business.
