Marangoni moves retread plant in Italy

Jan. 29, 2009

Marangoni SpA has moved production of its Marix tire retread facility from Feltre, Italy, to Rovereto, Italy, near the company's research and development center.

The move was necessary "to ensure better manufacturing efficiency and more rapid development of the final product," according to the company.

"At a time when industries around the world need to face up to an unprecedented global economic recession, our company has decided to invest in what is still now our main manufacturing business: tire retreading," says CEO Massimo De Alessandri.

"By concentrating production at our industrial complex in Rovereto, we will be able to maximize synergies and manufacturing efficiency, and at the same capitalize on the modern equipment available and the specific knowledge acquired over the years. By introducing new technology, we will likewise be able to expand the range and sizes of Marix retreaded tires for light commercial vehicles and 4x4s/SUVs."

Retreading represents 65% of the group's industrial operations.
