Equus handheld tools add ABS systems coverage

Jan. 14, 2009

Equus Products Inc.’s Innova 3150 ABS + CanOBD2 Diagnostic Tool and Innova 3160 ABS + CanOBD2® ScanTool are now available with the addition of anti-lock break (ABS) systems coverage.

“Having studied the market for the last several years, we have seen that tools dedicated to just offer ABS coverage don’t work,” says Brendan McShane, Equus’ marketing manager. “These new dual-use Innova brand tools are multifunction, Internet updateable and upgradeable at no charge, and come with access to PC software and solutions that provide virtually everything needed to diagnose both check engine and anti-lock break problems. When a car comes in with either an ABS or Check Engine Light on, we’ve found our customers want to reach into their toolbox for only one tool that will get the job done. It’s like having two tools for the price of one.”

The Innova 3150 ABS + CanOBD2 Diagnostic Tool diagnoses all check engine lights on 1996 and newer OBD2 compliant cars, light trucks, SUVs and minivans -- foreign and domestic -- as well as ABS codes on 1996 and newer GM, Ford and Chrysler vehicles.

The tools’ ABS coverage includes the ability to display, define and troubleshoot ABS fault codes for most brake light warning systems such as: ABS solenoids, ABS pump motors, b rake switches, control
modules, speed sensors and more.

The 3150 kit includes the tool, OBD2 16-pin DLC cable, PC software and cable, sturdy nylon storage pouch and instruction manual.

The 3160 offers the same features and functions as the 3150, but comes with the added bonus of a backlit blue screen and provides SAE-enhanced live data, including views, graphs and playback of live PCM data streams. The user can prioritize these live data values (P.I.D.) for quick review and analysis.

Other features and functions offered by the 3160 include bi-directional testing, vehicle I.D. capture and oxygen sensor results. The 3160 kit includes the scan tool, OBD2 16-pin DLC cable, PC software and cable, sturdy nylon storage pouch and instruction manual.

Both tools feature trilingual interface with on-screen code definitions in English, Spanish and French; an all-in-one display showing 25 vital pieces of information at one time; "plug & play" interface; color-coded system status LEDs that show emissions readiness status; and automatic re-link for performing drive cycles to verify repairs.

They both also include a PC link cable and CD with OBD-PC Link Shop software. The included software lets you download, save print and e-mail additional information from the tool, including trouble codes, monitor status and freeze frame data. Both tools also include access to CanOBD2.com RepairSolutions which gives trouble code definitions, a full diagnostic report, probable causes, most likely fix to DTCs, repair costs and more.
