TPMS questions answered on Schrader Web site

Dec. 13, 2006

Schrader Bridgeport International Inc. has added tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) technical and installation information to its expanded Web site at www.schrader-

bridgeport.com/airaware.

It also has a TPMS technical hotline number -- (800) 288-1804 -- for Schrader customers. The toll-free number is manned from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“The TPMS replacement market is growing rapidly, and tire technicians need access to accurate and timely repair information,” said David Weber, Schrader TPMS project manager. “With expensive sensors and transmitters located inside today’s tires, the processes for changing, repairing and rotating tires have changed significantly. To protect the delicate electronics from moisture and dirt, OE manufacturers recommend new caps, cores, grommets and nuts each time

a tire is serviced. Brass valve cores cannot be used, since they promote galvanic corrosion in TPMS aluminum valve sensors. Confusing processes must be performed on many vehicles to enable the vehicle to ‘learn’ the new locations of rotated tires. Schrader can help.”

“As a leading supplier of TPMS components, Schrader wants to make it as easy as possible for them to find the information they need, when they need it. Our expanded Web site provides answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding TPMS. And if they require further assistance, technical specialists are available at our TPMS hotline number to answer their questions,” Weber said.

Schrader AirAware is a full line of TPMS systems, components and tools that meet OE quality and performance specifications, the company noted.
