Bridgestone Firestone Retail & Commercial Operations LLC is partnering with the Girl Scouts of the USA to educate young women about both the importance of keeping their vehicles in prime condition, and career opportunities in the automotive industry.

Firestone Complete Auto Care will take its "Car Care Academies" on a 10-stop tour through Arkansas, Hawaii, Ohio, Michigan, Montana, New York, Rhode Island, Mississippi and Oregon. The series of educational seminars will be conducted by automotive education specialist and former race car driver Trisha Hessinger.

The driver education events feature hands-on activities, role model instruction and interactive learning materials.

"Learning the basics of car care is important for all drivers, particularly those who don't traditionally have a means to learn such information," says Hessinger. "Whether or not they are old enough to have a driver's license, when young women come to a Car Care Academy, they learn about safety on the road and the essentials of vehicle maintenance.

"This kind of information not only helps drivers save money and extend the life of their vehicles, but it could also open their eyes to a new passion."
