Oct. 31, 2006

The Turanza with Serenity technology is one of several new tires that Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) introduced earlier today at its dealer meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. The tire will be launched in March 2007.

The Turanza contains BFNT's new Serenity technology and will be available in 10 H-rated sizes, seven W-rated sizes and five V-rated sizes. It will replace all Turanza LS tires.

The new Turanza also features the Serenity logo in its sidewall design.

BFNT also unveiled a new family of commercial light truck tires, the Duravis R500 HD.

In the Bridgestone brand, the Dueler H/P Sport also will receive four new sizes.

On the Firestone side, BFNT unveiled a new all-season high performance tire, the Firehawk GT. The tire will be available in 27 sizes, including 14 H-rated sizes, eight V-rated sizes and five W-rated sizes.

The Firehawk GT will sport the Firestone shield logo on its sidewall. It targets the Honda Accord, Pontiac GTO, Saturn SW2 and other vehicles.

In related news, BFNT announced it will discontinue its Firestone Affinia LH30 and select sizes of its Firstone Indy 500 tire.

A number of Firestone brand tires are slated to receive new sizes. Among them:

* the Firestone Wide Oval (size 245/40R20);

* the Destination A/T (size P235/70R17);

"In 2007, we are looking at how we can reposition our pricing on core lines to make them more competitive in the marketplace," Phil Pacsi, vice president of North American consumer marketing, BFNT, told dealers at the meeting.
