SEMA Show Preview: AutoSock presents alternative to snow chains

Oct. 26, 2006

Norway-based AutoSock AS says its fabric-based tire covering effectively replaces the use of tire chains on snow and ice.

Already sold in Europe and Asia, the product will be introduced to the North American market at next week's SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, Nev.

"We’re setting up distributorships in half a dozen snowy regions" in the U.S., says Garry Rainey, a sales and marketing distribution consultant for AutoSock.

"We have firm commitments from a distributor in Colorado with warehouses up and down the Rockies, and a major distributor in St. Louis. We should have the rest of our network established by early 2007."

To date, AutoSock has sold one million units in Europe and Asia. In addition, the company was recently authorized for Toyota dealer distribution in Japan.
