Bridgestone Corp. will start production of aircraft tires at its plant in Tokyo, Japan.
This will give Bridgestone two aircraft tire production sites. Its other aircraft tire plant is in Kurume, Japan.
"Through this move, Bridgstone's production capacity for radial tires for aircrafts will double by 2011, relative to the current level," say Bridgestone officials.
Aircraft tire production at the Tokyo plant is slated to start during the second half of 2008.
Bridgestone has earmarked 5 billion yen for the project.
