Continental achieves sales gains during first half

Aug. 4, 2006

Continental AG's consolidated net sales totaled 7.2 billion euros during the first six months of the year, a 6.2% increase over the same period in 2005.

Continental's Passenger and Light Truck Tires division posted sales of 2.2 billion euros, a 7.8% increase over the first six months of last year.

The company's Commercial Vehicle Tires unit achieved sales of 719 million euros during the first half, a 10.5% increase over the same period in 2005.

"We are looking to the second half of this year with optimisim, because -- driven by the winter tire business, among other things -- sales are traditionally stronger than in the first half," says Continental Chairman Manfred Wennemer.

Wennemer adds that Continental hs "no cause to revise our outlook for fiscal year 2006, even though competitors operating in parts of our business have been forced to do so."
