Michelin plant marks 20 years of aircraft tire production

Michelin North America Inc.'s Norwood, N.C., plant has been making aircraft tires for 20 years.

The Norwood facility was originally built by Wheaton Glass Co. in 1983. It was purchased by B.F. Goodrich Tire and was transformed into an aircraft tire plant in 1986.

The plant was purchased by Michelin in 1989. It builds tires for commercial aviation, military use, major air frame builders, and private aircraft. It also supplies tires for the Space Shuttle.
