Remington Tire Distributors buys President Tire

July 27, 2006

Sherwood Park, Alberta-based Remington Tire Distributors Inc. has acquired the assets of Laval, Quebec-based President Tire Canada. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Remington has obtained President Tire's 10 distribution centers, bringing Remington's total number of warehouses throughout Canada up to 30.

Remington also has acquired President's network of 200-plus retail franchises.

"The wholesale distribution centers and retail network will continue to operate under the President Tire brand, which Remington also has acquired," say Remington officials.

The deal does not include President's 16 Auto Centre locations, though Remington has acquired certain assets from those outlets.

The transaction increases Remington's presence in Quebec and the Maritimes, says Remington Tire President Ross Kelly.

"We look forward to building on the strong base President Tire has established in the Canadian market."

One hundred President Tire employees are expected to remain with the company.
