Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC's Jacksonville, Fla., distribution center will be able to hold 1.2 million passenger and light truck tires, as well as 125,000 medium truck and bus tires.
A Bridgestone/Firestone spokesperson told moderntiredealer.com that the company can no longer source all of its Asian-made tires via West Coast ports.
"We will be moving one-third of that business to this facility," she says.
"We'll also move one-third of our shipping from Galveston, Texas, and New Orleans, La., to Jacksonville."
The company receives South American-produced tires through Galveston and New Orleans.
The Jacksonville warehouse is scheduled to open one year from now. "It's a great location for our dealers in the southeast."
