Hankook adds to OE presence at General Motors

May 10, 2006

Hankook Optimo H725A all-season touring tires will be original equipment on four vehicles built by General Motors Corp., according to Hankook Tire America Corp.

The Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 will be fitted with P205/55HR16 tires, while the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 will sport P225/50SR17 tires.

The Hankook Optimo H725A tire has been specially designed for compact and mid-sized passenger cars "that balance enhanced fuel economy with fun-to-drive performance," says the company. Hankook has invested two years in the development of the tire, which recently made its OE market debut on the Saturn Ion.

Globally, Hankook also supplies tires for use on Ford, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Kia, Volvo and Mitsubishi vehicles, among others.

The Hankook brand holds a 1% share of the OE tire business at General Motors in the United States and Canada, according to Modern Tire Dealer's 2006 Facts Issue.
