It's taken a few years to get there, but Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) wide-base truck tires are finally on the road.
CTNA's wide-base trailer tire, the HTL1, "is running as we speak," Clif Armstrong, CTNA's director of original equipment sales and marketing, commercial tire vehicles, told moderntiredealer.com today.
Pilot production is in place for the HTL1, says a CTNA spokesman. "We're gearing up (our) factories to produce more of them."
A wide-base drive tire, the HDL1, will come on-line later this year.
CTNA originally unveiled the tires approximately three years ago, but their introduction has been delayed.
The company wanted to make sure "we brought (out) a product that the market would consider top-notch," according to Armstrong.
