Standard Testing Labs offers machinery refurbishing

Feb. 23, 2006

Standards Testing Laboratories (STL) is offering a refurbishing service to update older testing equipment for better efficiency and more accurate results.

Refurbishing allows nearly a 60% cost savings versus the price of new testing machinery, says an STL spokesperson.

"After 35 years in the machinery business, STL is knowledgeable about older equipment and what is required to upgrade to meet today's standards," says Cheryl Schnuth, vice president, marketing and technical sales.

"Whether it is an FM (Fabricated Machine) manufactured by STL, or machinery from another manufacturer, we are capable of upgrading it to include the latest computer controls. We can quickly respond with a cost estimate for the refurbishing service."

According to the company, STL testing equipment typically is built "mechanically robust" and requires minimal preventative maintenance. Only the controls and electronics become obsolete.

"We can upgrade the older equipment to a hydraulic, closed loop, servo control with the latest software package for automatic operation," adds Schnuth.

All refurbished equipment carries a one-year warranty, the same as new STL testing equipment. Any parts used during the refurbishing process carry the manufacturers' warranty.
