Oliver Rubber launches new SmartWay retread

Dec. 18, 2012

Oliver Rubber Co. has launched the ULP (Ultra Low Profile) Trailer, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay-verified retread for wide base single tires.

ULP Trailer is designed for long haul wide base trailer applications and delivers enhanced fuel efficiency, providing fleets significant value and performance, the company notes.

“Oliver Rubber’s new ULP Trailer employs VDi Plus, a visual depth indicator that reduces the retention of foreign objects in the tread face,” says Philip Boarts, product category manager, Retread for Michelin Americas Truck Tires.

“The retread, pressed in Oliver’s Black Armor compound, has unique properties that contribute to incredible treadwear and very low rolling resistance. This introduction provides an excellent retread solution for the next generation of wide-base singles.”

Oliver Rubber says VDi Plus is an exclusive feature that no other retread product in the industry offers. Easy visual tread depth gauging enhances the fleet operation’s budget planning process. Reduced lodging of foreign material abates stone drilling conditions and casing penetration issues that typically occur in the trucking industry.

VDI Plus points are strategically placed protecting tire investment. All Oliver retreads carry a national warranty to 2/32nds of tread depth.

Oliver Rubber is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Michelin North America, which acquired the company in 2007. Oliver Rubber recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.
