XTrax marks the spot for Apollo at the IMME

Apollo Tyres Ltd. launched its XTrax giant earthmover tire at the 11th International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) in Salt Lake, Kolkata, India. The event runs from Dec. 5-8, 2012.

The 11.7 foot, size 40.00x57 tire was dislayed on the Salt Lake Stadium grounds (see photo). It weighs more than 7,700 pounds (3,500 kilograms).

Designed for use on in 240-ton dumper trucks used for mining purposes, the tires are cured at Apollo’s Limda, India, plant in the western state of Gujarat. Each tire is manufactured using 1,900 kg of rubber, 750 kg of carbon black, 350 kg of nylon fabric and 500 kg of other rubber chemicals.

Apollo says these tires are the largest produced in India.

IMME is India’s largest trade fair dedicated to the mining industry. It was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries.
