With both Chairman and CEO Sam Gibara and President Bob Keegan on hand, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. christened its newest airship, the "Spirit of America," today.
"Given the spirit of this great country, and the way the people of the United States of America have come together as one patriotic nation, we could think of no better tribute than to christen the airship the 'Spirit of America,'" said Gibara.
Following the program, the blimp joined three others -- the "Eagle," "Stars & Stripes" and "Spirit of Goodyear" -- in formation, the first time that has happened in nearly 40 years.
Goodyear has owned and operated blimps in America since 1925.
