Name Continental's TrukFix program mascot

TrukFix, Continental Tire the Americas LLC’s emergency road service hotline and assistance program for commercial tire national account customers, recently underwent a series of strategic enhancements that will provide better customer service, communication and reliability when commercial drivers need assistance, says Clif Armstrong, director of truck tire marketing for the Americas.

Continental has partnered with an award-winning provider to handle the 24-hour, toll-free hotline, 877-TRUKFIX, which triggers a network of more than 1,000 commercial tire dealers and service outlets throughout the U.S. and Canada, Armstrong said. As part of the enhanced service, Continental recently underwent a three-month service capability verification for all providers in its database. Each emergency call is monitored and tracked through completion of the road service, and is now followed by a next-day contact to the dealer, Armstrong said.

Pricing to the fleet for these services is regulated, and convenient billing through Continental’s national account invoicing system means that company drivers don’t have to be responsible for cash or credit card reimbursements. There are no membership fees and enrollment is automatic for Continental truck tire national accounts.

“This free service for our national account customers is now better than ever. Not only do our customers have access via our website, the toll-free hotline and the Truck Tire Dealer Locator App for iPhone, but they also get peace of mind. With this launch we’re able to get them back on the road faster than ever before, and ensure that they receive regulated pricing on tires and related services,” Armstrong says.

“Emergency road service should include the same amount of communication, the same amount of follow-through, and the same attention to detail as what you expect from your local truck tire dealer. Our TrukFix program offers all this and is now better than ever,” he explains.

As part of the enhancement process, Continental has chosen a character mascot, who will represent the TrukFix program at dealers, trade shows, events and for online communication. But the character is missing a name, and the company is running a contest to fix that.

“We’re asking our customers to help us and show their creative side. At the Continental TrukFix Web site, www.trukfix.com, they can enter a naming contest for the new mascot and have a chance at winning an iPad 2 mobile digital device,” Armstrong says.

The contest runs through February 24 with the winning name to be announced mid-March. Entries can also be placed at the Continental Tire Facebook page, Armstrong says. Complete rules for the contest are available on the website and Facebook entry forms.

Continental will unveil the mascot and give away miniatures at the Mid-America Trucking Show, March 22-24 in Louisville, Ky.
