Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plans to reduce tire production at two plants in Amiens, France.
Reductions will be made "because (the factories') costs are not competitive," say Goodyear officials. Five hundred jobs will be eliminated.
Production of some tires made at the facilities will be sent to other, lower-cost plants in Europe and abroad. In addition, some product lines will be eliminated.
