National Tire Safety Week Kicks Off with Key Survey Findings

June 28, 2021

The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) has kicked off National Tire Safety Week, which will run through July 4. The campaign's theme is "Do Your P.A.R.T., Know Your Roll."

The acronym P.A.R.T. refers to tire pressure, alignment, rotation and tread, according to USTMA officials.

The association also released key findings of a recent survey in partnership with Discount Tire and Ipsos.

According to survey results, "70% of drivers across the U.S. reported not checking their tire pressure in the 30 days" before embarking on road trips.

In addition, 48% of respondents reported that they don't know how often to check air pressure levels; 53% of respondents don't know how to check tread wear levels; and 53% do not know how often to rotate their tires.

"As growing numbers of Americans are vaccinated and eager to take that long summer road trip again this year, USTMA’s members and partners are reemphasizing the importance of tire safety,” says Anne Forristall Luke, president and CEO of UTSMA.

“During National Tire Safety Week 2021, we are reminding drivers to check their tires and perform simple but important maintenance practices before getting behind the wheel.”
