Vaccination Mandate Could Roll Out Soon, Says TIA

Oct. 18, 2021

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) expects that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) emergency temporary standard on private sector COVID-19 vaccination mandates will be released "very soon."

In early September, the Biden White House directed OSHA to develop a standard that would require private employers with 100 or more employees to enforce vaccination mandates "or require any workers who remain unvaccinated to produce a negative test result on at least a weekly basis before coming to work."

OSHA submitted its draft emergency temporary standard to the Office of Management and Budget on Oct. 12.

The office's review "is the final step that must occur before OSHA can put the new standard into effect," say TIA officials.

Mario Barrera, an attorney who specializes in labor and employment law, discussed COVID-19 vaccination mandates in a recent episode of The Modern Tire Dealer Show.
