Signs, including financial results, point to Bridgestone/Firestone turnaround

Aug. 6, 2002

Bridgestone Corp. is set to release strong first-half 2002 financial results for itself and its Bridgestone/Firestone Americas Holding Inc. (BFAH) subsidiary on Friday.

According to a BFAH spokesperson, the results will be positive. At a recent Bridgestone/Firestone tire dealer event, Shu Ishibashi, president of Bridgestone/Firestone North American Consumer Tire Sales Group, said Bridgestone brand sales are up 30% over the same period last year, while Firestone sales have stabilized.

Also, the company recently introduced the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo, a premium on/off-road SUV and light truck tire (www.mtdealer.com first previewed the tire on June 12). It will replace the Dueler A/T as the "best" tire in its "good-better-best" on/off-road tire tier. The A/T will move to the "better" slot, with the Firestone Wilderness A/T now the "good" tire.

The Dueler A/T Revo features the company's UNI-T AQII technology, which helps the tire keep its wet and dry performance characteristics even as it wears. It is available in 27 P-metric and LT sizes.
