Continental Kicks Off Season 3 of What'Cha Got

July 25, 2016

Continental Tire the Americas LLC is taking 14 Major League Soccer (MLS) players onto the track for the third season of the short format feature, "What'Cha Got." Soccer players become competitive drivers in the show that's part of weekly televised soccer coverage.

Airing on FOX and FOX Sports 1 as part of the “Soccer Sunday” lineup, this weekly show presented by Continental takes players from the pitch to the track and showcases some hidden talent.

Chicago Fire goalkeeper, Sean Johnson, snatched the keys to a Lamborghini in 2014 and former D.C. United midfielder, Perry Kitchen, took the honors in 2015.

“This year’s batch of players was extremely competitive,” says Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental. “This is our third season and I think some of these guys have been practicing because they definitely put those Continental tires to work. This may be our best season yet!”

“We are excited to partner with Continental Tire to bring MLS fans a third season of What’Cha Got,” says Townsend Bell, WeatherTech SportsCar Championship driver. “We are testing the driving skills of a whole new round of players competing on our most challenging course yet. It should be entertaining as we introduce new track features like a slalom and jump!"

The weekly series features 14 MLS notables swapping their daily driver for a turn behind the wheel of a 2016 Audi R8. Each participant puts their best foot forward to make it through a closed-circuit autocross course. Seven participants from the east, and seven from the west, square off in a battle similar to the shootout at the O.K. Corral. In the end, two will be left standing to contend for the chance to win a year-long lease of a 2016 Audi R8 fitted in Continental’s ultra-high performance tire, the ContiSportContact 5P.

This season’s roster showcases a MLS favorites:

Luis Robles – New York Red Bulls; Chance Myers – Sporting KC; Eric Wynalda – FOX; Steven Birnbaum – D.C. United; Ray Gaddis – Philadelphia Union; Brek Shea – Orlando City SC; AJ DeLaGarza – LA Galaxy; Ethan Finlay – Columbus Crew SC; Luke Mulholland – Real Salt Lake; Zach Loyd – FC Dallas; Juan Agudelo – New England Revolution; Fatai Alashe – San Jose Earthquakes; Chris Korb – D.C. United; and Andrew Wenger – Houston Dynamo.

The first episode kicked off July 24 on FOX. “What’Cha Got” will follow the Soccer Sunday game of the week on FOX or FOX Sports 1, featuring a different participant each week with the finale airing in December.
