Last week's snowfall equals "biggest day ever" for Harris Tire

Dec. 10, 2002

Last Thursday was Lynchburg, Va.-based Harris Tire Co.'s best day since its opened 35 years ago thanks to the winter weather that passed through Virginia earlier in the week, according to owner Tommy Harris.

Harris Tire sold 300 to 400 tires at its Lynchburg store on Dec. 5, says Harris. (The dealership also has another outlet.)

Many customers upgraded from worn all-season tires to dedicated snow tires, "and new all-season tires in a lot of cases."

Harris says November 2002 was his company's best month ever with sales jumping 25% over November 2001 numbers.

The dealership -- which sells Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton and Sigma brand passenger and light truck tires -- is on track to reach $4.5 million in sales this year.
