Consumer Reports Gives Rare Ink to a New Tire

Jan. 25, 2016

It is rare Consumer Reports (CR) writes about one tire. The magazine normally picks a segment it wants to test, buys 15 to 20 tire lines that fit the segment, and publishes the results.

Every November, the magazine reveals the results and rankings from a major tire test, often breaking down more than one segment.

A recent Web story written by longtime CR tire tester Gene Petersen talked about one tire in particular. Having tested the tire in question -- the Toyo Celsius -- Petersen shared the results and more with the website's readers.

What did he have to say? And maybe more importantly (it's all relative), what did Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich have to say?

To find out, check out Ulrich's latest blog, "Consumer Reports Writes About a Tire that Is Hard to Categorize."

What phrase best describes the Toyo Celsius?

A. Variable conditions tire.

B. All-weather tire.

C. All-season tire.
