Jon Bellissimo has been named director of technology for commercial tire systems for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
He had been the director of global technology for Goodyear Engineered Products since August 2000.
Steve McClellan, vice president, commercial tire systems for Goodyear´s North American region, said Bellissimo´s experience in tire modeling and tire composite science will be valuable in expediting industry-leading technologies in medium truck tires.
"Goodyear plans to lead the industry in delivering new technology that can be used by our fleet customers, independent dealers and truck manufacturers. We plan to lead in ´smart´ truck tires that use computer chips to improve tire maintenance and increased miles to removal.
"Through Goodyear computer modeling, we are gaining product leadership in line haul and regional haul tire applications, line haul drive and urban steer position," McClellan said.
