TIA releases schedule for winter/spring ATS and CTS Instructor Programs

Nov. 17, 2004

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced its winter/spring dates for the Automotive Tire Service (ATS) and Commercial Tire Service (CTS) Certified Instructor Programs.

The Instructor Programs certify individuals to become Certified Instructors and qualify them to return to their place of business and conduct Certified Technician courses for their employees, TIA says.

Certified ATS combines in-depth classroom instruction with comprehensive hands-on education. Students who successfully complete the Instructor Program are prepared to return to their companies and conduct in-house Certified ATS Technician or Instructor classes.

The Certified ATS Instructor Program runs three or four days. The three-day course certifies individuals as Certified ATS Instructors, allowing them to certify technicians in the field. The four-day course certifies individuals as Certified ATS Advanced Instructors, qualifying them to certify technicians and/or other instructors in the field.

"We´re pleased to once again offer the CTS and ATS Certified Instructor Programs in two different areas of the country," said Roy Littlefield, TIA executive vice president. "The TIA CTS and ATS Instructor Programs continue to be one of our most requested training programs."

TIA reports its CTS Program has educated over 14,000 technicians and instructors throughout North America since its inception in 1997. The CTS Program also combines classroom instruction with hands-on earning and meets the requirements laid out by OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.177. Students who successfully complete the CTS Instructor Program are qualified to certify technicians in the field.

The Certified CTS Instructor Program also is separated into two different classes: three-day and four-day. The three-day class is for individuals with more than two years experience in servicing commercial truck tires, while the four-day class has an additional day of hands-on training for those who have had less than two years of experience in the field.
