Maxxis prepares for growth

May 3, 2002

Maxxis International has added 100,000 square feet to its Suwanee, Ga., warehouse, which brings the facility up to 180,000 square feet.

The expansion enables Maxxis to add more than 210,000 passenger and specialty tires to its inventory.

In preparation for expected growth, Maxxis will move from its Ontario, Calif., warehouse to a larger, 100,000-square-foot facility in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Company officials expect the move to be finished by Oct. 1, 2002.

Maxxis has two other warehouses in North America, one in Copell, Texas, and one in Brampton, Ontario.

Maxxis President James Tzen says parent company, Cheng Shin Ribber Intl. Co. Ltd., is gearing up its plants in Asia to produce more tires.

Cheng Shin has five plants in Taiwan and two in mainland China. It is building another factory in China.

One of the existing plants in China is a joint venture with Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. Cheng Shin owns 70% of the venture.
