Pirelli introduces an ultra-high performance winter tire

Oct. 5, 2004

The new Pirelli bi-seasonal Winter Sottozero recently was honored in the German press.

The new radial received the top honor in ADAC Motorwelt ("three stars, very recommendable"), Auto Zeitung (an "unlimited buying recommendation") and Auto Motor und Sport ("very recommendable").

It was the only tire to be honored in all three publications.

The Winter Sottozero, introduced three months ago in Argentina, is designed as an ultra-high performance winter tire. It follows a long list of Pirelli snow tire innovations:

* Winter Performance, an H- rated directional winter tire (1992);

* Snowcontrol, an asymmetric radial (1996);

* Snowsport, a V-rated winter tire (1999).

The award-winning Winter Sottozero is a dual-season tire, engineered to provide maximum road performance and effectiveness from the end of October until the beginning of April.

It is available in 15- through 19-inch sizes. One of the 19-inch sizes, which features both a directional and asymmetric design, is original equipment on the Lamborghini Gallardo.
