Kumho re-introduces racing tire

July 14, 2004

The Kumho Ecsta V710 is back on the market following a three-month haitus.

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. voluntarily discontinued sales of the V710 in April after it discovered "some inconsistent test results relating to tread splice and tread area durability," according to Kumho officials.

Kumho offered its Ecsta V700 or Victoracer tires free of charge to consumers who bought a set of V710s, as well as a certificate for a set of modified V710s when they returned to the market.

"Our number one priority is safety," says Kumho Brand Manager Rick Brennan.

The re-introduced V710 contains modifications designed to eliminate former problems from happening again.

The tire is available in seven sizes, with 10 more sizes on the way later this summer.

The Sports Car Club of America has declared the V710 legal for its Club Racing and Solo events, effective immediately.
